Nebraska Traditional MSW Admissions Requirements
Students with no previous education in social work will need to enter into a traditional MSW program. Most traditional MSW programs can be completed in two years with the completion of 60 credits. To apply, you’ll need the following:
- Bachelor’s degree, typically in psychology or a related area, from a regionally accredited institution
- Minimum GPA requirement (typically around 3.0)
- Letters of recommendation

Nebraska Advanced-Standing MSW Admissions Requirements
If you already have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree and a GPA of 3.5 or higher, you can apply for the advanced-standing MSW option. This type of program allows students to get their MSW in only a year. Nebraska currently has two advanced-standing MSW programs: The University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University.
